£38m schools contracts for offsite contractor

Offsite building specialist Caledonian has secured two large school projects with a total order value of £38m - Haygrove School in Somerset and The Sir Frederick Gibberd College in Essex.

Caledonian undertakes the role as Lead Designer and Principal Contractor, delivering projects from feasibility, through design and planning with its design partner HLM Architects.

The Sir Frederick Gibberd College

Caledonian will create a brand new £29m secondary school at the Sir Frederick Gibberd College at the site of the former Passmore School in Harlow, Essex. It will comprise a 1,200 place secondary school built over three storeys including a school hall, dining hall, drama studio and a 500 place sixth form teaching area as well as sports facilities and all associated external works and sports pitches.

Haygrove School

Work at Haygrove School in Bridgwater will involve utilising Caledonian’s component based school solutions to replace the main school building with modern and efficient off-site manufactured teaching environments. The three-storey building will consist of classrooms, double-height hall and studio spaces, offices, kitchen and associated rooms for educational purposes, along with enabling, groundwork’s and external works.

Paul Lang, Chief Executive Officer of Caledonian Modular, said “Haygrove and SFGC are key project wins for Caledonian which underpin the significant investments made in our business engineering and manufacturing systems over the last 12-months. These investments, combined with our digital design and BIM expertise will enable the business to realise its growth targets to double its revenue over the next two years.”
